California Tiger Barb (Puntigrus tetrazona)

California Tiger Barb (Puntigrus tetrazona) is an active, lively and very popular schooling fish, well suited to a well-established aquarium with other energetic tank mates. It reaches approximately 6-7 cm. It is distinguished by its characteristic body with contrasting vertical stripes, while the "California" variety is particularly popular for its brighter and more decorative coloration. It does best in a group of at least 8-10 individuals, but should not be kept with slow-moving or long-finned fish such as Bettas, fancy guppies or long-finned angelfish, as it may nip their fins.
