Geophagus sp. - Tapajos Red Head

Geophagus sp. "Tapajos Red Head" is a beautiful and relatively peaceful South American cichlid, easily recognized by the reddish-orange coloration on its head and subtle metallic iridescence across the body. It reaches approximately 15-20 cm and does best in a spacious aquarium with a soft sandy substrate, hiding places and plenty of open swimming space. It can be kept with other peaceful fish of a similar size, but is not a good choice for very small species.
