Winemiller's Geophagus (Geophagus winemilleri)

Winemiller's Geophagus (Geophagus winemilleri) is a beautiful and relatively peaceful South American cichlid, distinguished by its elegant body, subtle metallic iridescence and characteristic sand-sifting behaviour. It reaches approximately 20-25 cm and does best in a spacious aquarium with a soft sandy substrate, driftwood, hiding places and very good filtration. It can be kept with other peaceful fish of a similar size, but is not a good choice for very small species.
