Johanni Cichlid (Melanochromis johannii)

Johanni Cichlid (Melanochromis johannii) is a beautiful, active and territorial African cichlid from Lake Malawi, distinguished by pronounced sexual dimorphism - males are typically blue-black, while females and juveniles are yellow-orange. It reaches approximately 10-12 cm and does best in a well-established aquarium with plenty of rocks, hiding places, a sandy substrate and hard, stable water. It can be kept with other Lake Malawi cichlids of a similar size, but is not a good choice for a peaceful community aquarium due to its potentially aggressive behaviour.
