Nicaraguan Cichlid (Hypsophrys nicaraguensis)

Nicaraguan Cichlid (Hypsophrys nicaraguensis) is a beautiful and relatively peaceful Central American cichlid, distinguished by its elongated body, yellowish-golden coloration, bluish iridescence and characteristic dark markings. It reaches approximately 18-25 cm under good conditions and does best in a spacious aquarium with a sandy substrate, rocks, driftwood and hiding places. It can be kept with other relatively peaceful fish of a similar size, but may become more territorial when breeding.
