Odessa barbus (Pethia padamya)

The Odessa Barb (Pethia padamya) is an active, lively, and very beautiful schooling fish, suitable for a well-established community aquarium with peaceful, though not overly slow-moving, tank mates. It reaches a size of approximately 5–7 cm. It is distinguished by a silvery body and a bright red stripe in males, which stands out particularly beautifully when the fish is in good condition and kept in a planted tank with a dark background. It thrives best in a group of at least 6–8 individuals, in clean, stable water with plenty of open swimming space.
