Red-Bellied Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri)

Red-Bellied Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) is a large, powerful and predatory freshwater fish, best suited to experienced aquarists. It reaches approximately 25-30 cm. Despite its fearsome reputation, it can often be shy and nervous in an aquarium, but due to its powerful jaws, it is not suitable for a community tank with small, slow-moving or long-finned fish. It is best kept in a species-only aquarium with other piranhas, with plenty of space, powerful filtration and stable water conditions.
