Silver Shark (Balantiocheilos melanopterus)

The Silver Shark / Bala Shark (Balantiocheilos melanopterus) is a large, active, and striking schooling fish suitable only for spacious aquariums with ample swimming room. It reaches approximately 30-35 cm in length. Distinguished by its silvery body, black-edged fins, and “shark-like” appearance, it is nonetheless peaceful towards tank mates of appropriate size. It is unsuitable for small aquariums, as it grows large, is a very active swimmer, and thrives best in a group.
